SARANEX/EPE/SARANEX liner

A specialized multilayer liner with an EPE foam core, laminated on both sides with Saranex film, has been valued for years by wine producers around the world. It provides an optimal balance between protection against excessive oxidation and controlled gas exchange, allowing the wine to maintain its freshness, fruity character, and color stability.

The liners are made of closed-cell polyethylene foam, coated with a barrier film on both sides.

EPE foam is produced through the extrusion process.

EPE/SARANEX foam liners have better barrier properties than standard ones.

SARANEX film contains PVDC in its composition.

Application:

For sealing closures used when capping bottles or jars with carbonated and non-carbonated beverages, non-alcoholic drinks (including mineral waters and juices), oils, facial creams, as well as alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content of up to 95%, including wine.

Available diameters:

From 14,55 mm up to 40,60 mm with tolerance ± 0,15 mm
From 42,00 mm up to 57,37 mm with tolerance ± 0,25 mm

Other diameters are available on request.

Technical parameters:

  • Density: 250 – 500 kg/m³
  • Thickness: 1,5 – 3,0 mm
  • Flatness: max 10%
  • SARANEX film thickness: 50 μm
  • The thickness of the EPE core depends on the customer’s needs
  • Density and thickness with a tolerance of ±10%
  • Hardness at a density of 300 kg/m³: 75°Sh
  • Maximum pressure for SARANEX gaskets: 2.5 – 3.0 bar.

Permeability of the SARANEX/EPE/SARANEX layer:

  • Oxygen permeability: < 2 [cm³/m²·24h] (values 1.539 – 1.814)
  • Water vapor permeability: 0.558 ± 0.010 [g/m²·24h·0.1MPa]

The SARANEX layer acts as a barrier to gases (oxygen, carbon dioxide), aromas, odors, fuel vapors, chemical products, MOSH/MOAH, and organic solvents.
